About Competing

The competition is a closing argument prepared from a closed case file, sponsored by the Arizona Association of Defense Counsel. All 1Ls, 2Ls, and 3Ls are welcome to compete! The Competition provides an excellent opportunity for students to hone their oral advocacy skills with feedback from practicing attorneys. There are significant cash prizes for the top three finishers!

IF YOU SIGN UP, YOU ARE EXPECTED TO SHOW UP! If you don’t show or if you cancel without adequate notice, unless there’s an emergency, you will be banned from competing for 1 year.

Competition Max Limits: (First-Come, First-Served) The sign up will close when we have hit the max. This is strictly first-come, first-served. No preference will be given to any year. Max of 32 competitors.

If you compete, you cannot volunteer as well. You must choose to either volunteer OR compete.

About Volunteering

Volunteering to be a timer for this competition is a great way to observe others compete and hear the feedback they provide to competitors. You can see what competing in a Moot Court Competition is like with no risk! However, if you sign up to volunteer on a specific date, you are committing to the entire evening: 5:30pm-9pm. We will provide you with dinner, a short break, and our endless gratitude.
